Telling a
layered story․

I was approached to create an illustration based on an image from the Conrad Hotel in Pune. Much like any complex piece of architecture, sushi is 'constructed' with several layers of textures and flavor profiles. Each bite is nuanced, bringing together the disciplines of art, culinary science, history and culture. Holistically, this piece presents a single piece of sushi. The detail elements represent the aforementioned nuances, all contained within a single piece.
